Liverpool: Just a couple of weeks ago, Microsoft officially launched Office for Android phone after unveiling the suite of apps as a preview. This release which comprises Excel, Word and PowerPoint follows the efforts made earlier to bring Office apps to Android tablets, iOS devices and Windows devices. The company says that the preview testers have tested Office apps for Android on over 1900 different models in 83 different countries. This has helped the company to make necessary adjustments on user interface by troubleshooting the bugs.
The new Office apps which are all set to replace Office Mobile requires the RAM of 1 GB and Android KitKat or above. One important thing to be noted is that Office apps will not be supported on Android M for now. The users can access Office apps freely if they have a free Microsoft account but if they want extra features related to power, it can be unlocked by subscribing to Office 365. The apps will be pre-installed on devices including Sony, Samsung, LG and others.
However the users don’t have to wait even if the app doesn’t come pre-loaded with the device. The Office apps for Android are now available for users to download. Excel, Word and PowerPoint for Android are available in Google Play. Here are a few advantages of having Office apps:
- Reviews and edits on the go: Sometimes you might come across a situation wherein you have to edit or review the documents on the go. The new Office apps are certainly the best apps which let you review any documents, read the comments or add your own comment.
- Presenting from phone: Office apps provide you the flexibility of presenting something right from your phone. PowerPoint for Android offers you the same designs, animations and transition effect that you would get on the desktop. You can also use inking to highlight the important points in your presentation.
- Quick access to the documents: One main advantage of having Office apps is you will have a very quick access to the documents that you are working on. If you are a faithful OneDrive user, you can also access the documents which are stored in Google Drive, Dropbox or any other third party cloud storage providers.
The new Office Apps are partnered with more than 30 local, regional and global manufacturers like LG, Sony, Samsung and many more. Most of these devices are expected to reach the retail stores later this year.
